toastie15
Hi all, I have a 03 plate C5 VTR hatchback and I have been having problems with the tail gate. It was sticking before so gave it a good spray with WD40 that sorted it for a while, but then this morning it wouldn't budge so gave it another spray and managed to get it open but now it won't budge. Has anyone got a solution, thanks in advance for any help.
paul.h
Are you saying the lock is not unlocking when you push the tail gate switch or is it unlocking but the struts/hinges are seized so the tail gate will not lift up or it will lift up with a bit of help but the struts are low on pressure ? toastie15
The lock is not unlocking even though previously a good squirt of W40 without stripping anything cured it for a while.
paul.h
It could be the door switch contacts are dirty. To test it, if you remove its electrical connector, bridge across the wiring connector pins with a bit of wire and if it is the switch the lock should work since all the switch does is earth the supply wire. If you have a meter you could also check the switch for electrical continuity whilst you have the connector removed.

paul.h
Bridge the pins on its wiring connector and see if the lock then works.

paul.h
The Citroen part no. could be 6554F1, if you can not get a used part I would imagine a new one is not that expensive from a dealer.
