Wiper Issue Possible Bsi Problem

Hello. I have a c2 gt 2003. I caught the wiper stalk getting out of the car and took the ignation key out only for the wipers to be across the window screen. Front wipers and wash motor now do not work.

All fuses checked and replaced. Still no wipers.

Tried the bsi reset still no wipers.

Looked on the c2 forum and possible software update required.

Booked car into dealer and dealer reccomended reinitalising the wipers £98 later no wipers.

Citroen dealer wants a further £98 to check wires

Then possible £500 for bsi unit

Is there a way of updating the software as i have read that this can be done if so how can it be done. Not too happy with dealer as they did not try software update or even reccomend it.

Any help would be great

Welcome to the forum.

After the ignition key is removed, for a short while if the wiper stalk is moved the wipers will go to the half way position to allow the wiper blades to be replaced or to help washing the car. So maybe the initial thing was this happening. Then when the engine is restarted the wiper stalk is moved again to put them back to the normal parked position. Possibly the stalk was damaged.

This is in the C3 Technical Section Common Problems topic to reset the wipers and may be worth a try

27. Comms 2000 unit reset method to fix wipers/washers not working.

This topic by vectratot includes a method to reset the comms 2000 unit after the wipers and washers stopped working http://www.citroen-o...ing/#entry82270

You would think a dealer would have done a diagnostic check to see if the wiper stalk is faulty, or the wiper motor before suggesting a bsi unit for possibly more than the cost of a replacement car. It is hard to imagine the wiring is faulty if just before catching the stalk the wipers worked.
